Shakespeare Colony [A month later]

They'd waited for the weather to turn more reliably warm and dry before hosting an outdoor dance in the center of the village. The fight over music had been mostly smoothed over by agreeing to vary the selections between what the colonists who'd arrived recently liked and what the natives had become used to after Ben had offered to provide enough droid spoken word albums to last the entire dance to break the impasse.

Because everyone had agreed that droid spoken word albums were the worst.

And now, in the fine tradition of dances everywhere, no one was dancing in the area cleared for that purpose as everyone gathered in nervous groupings around food and drink tables, staring at people across the floor and hoping someone would ask them to dance.

Ben sighed and tugged at the tie around his neck. "Should we draw names from a hat or something?" he asked Ender.

"Jedi stamina has to come in handy sometime," Ben replied with a little smile.

"Then you're a show-off," Ender decided, kissing him again.

"Since you're the one who's going to benefit from it, I'm not going to apologize for that either," Ben declared.

"Oh, now you're getting my expectations up," Ender said, smirking a little. "Think you can beat the last time?"

In reply, Ben flipped them over so he was on top. "I have some ideas--"

Ender slid his arms over Ben's shoulders. "I'm all ears."

In reply, Ben reached into the nightstand drawer and pulled out a vial of massage oil, then smiled a little nervously.

Ender smiled back at him out of habit. "Need me to turn over?"

"Please," Ben said, shifting over so Ender could move.

Ender rolled over easily, dropping his chin on the pillow.

"You have such a nice back," Ben murmured, straddling Ender's legs and warming the oil between his hands.

"You may be the only person who thinks so," Ender said wryly.

"Doubtful," Ben replied, leaning down to kiss the scar on the back of Ender's neck.

Ender gasped a little as most of his nerves notified him about that all at once. "Biased," he replied.

"Of course I am," Ben murmured, trailing his tongue over the spot before moving his hands in a slow massage of Ender's shoulders.

Ender released a terribly happy sigh and pressed his cheek against the pillow. "Much too good to me, too."

"Not even a little bit," Ben declared, moving his hands very slowly down Ender's back.

Ender shut his eyes - and his mouth - and let himself focus on the sensations instead.

He gave an involuntary little shiver.

"I got you," Ben whispered, drawing little patterns on Ender's back.

"I know," Ender said softly, cushioning his chin on his hands.

He was almost starting to appreciate the little bubble they sometimes wound up in.

Ben moved off of Ender's legs so that he could knead the muscles at the back of Ender's thighs, then slowly moved his hands up.

Ender shot him a vaguely amused glance over his shoulder - not that he was complaining. "Be nice to that."

Ben swatted Ender's ass gently. "Always," he said. "Otherwise there's nothing to stare at when you walk away."

[endsthegame]

"That was painfully bad," Ender said, laughing softly.

But then he liked Ben's bad jokes.

Ben leaned in and placed a kiss on the small of Ender's back. "You like it."
