Shakespeare Colony [A month later]

They'd waited for the weather to turn more reliably warm and dry before hosting an outdoor dance in the center of the village. The fight over music had been mostly smoothed over by agreeing to vary the selections between what the colonists who'd arrived recently liked and what the natives had become used to after Ben had offered to provide enough droid spoken word albums to last the entire dance to break the impasse.

Because everyone had agreed that droid spoken word albums were the worst.

And now, in the fine tradition of dances everywhere, no one was dancing in the area cleared for that purpose as everyone gathered in nervous groupings around food and drink tables, staring at people across the floor and hoping someone would ask them to dance.

Ben sighed and tugged at the tie around his neck. "Should we draw names from a hat or something?" he asked Ender.

"I got you," Ben whispered, drawing little patterns on Ender's back.

"I know," Ender said softly, cushioning his chin on his hands.

He was almost starting to appreciate the little bubble they sometimes wound up in.

Ben moved off of Ender's legs so that he could knead the muscles at the back of Ender's thighs, then slowly moved his hands up.

Ender shot him a vaguely amused glance over his shoulder - not that he was complaining. "Be nice to that."

Ben swatted Ender's ass gently. "Always," he said. "Otherwise there's nothing to stare at when you walk away."

"That was painfully bad," Ender said, laughing softly.

But then he liked Ben's bad jokes.

Ben leaned in and placed a kiss on the small of Ender's back. "You like it."

"Well, I've never met anyone who so fearlessly embraces every cliché in the book," Ender teased.

Ben pinched his ass in retaliation for that. "Hey."

"Ow," Ender said, shooting him a Look. "Now that was unjustified."

Ben's heart shouldn't start pounding that way when Ender's shot him that look, huh?

Oops?

"It was a little justified," he decided, sliding his slicked-up hand along Ender's back again, "but I apologize anyway."

"That doesn't count as a real apology," Ender decided.

"I'm open to suggestions," Ben murmured, leaning down to lick Ender's scar again.

"Guh," Ender mumbled.

Wait, wasn't he planning to use words for something...?

Ben sucked gently on that spot, then slid his hand back down Ender's back.

And then a little bit lower.

Ender's fingers tightened on the pillow. "Oh," he said, because it covered more - or less - than an expletive could have.

Dammit, Ben.

"I can stop," he murmured as his fingers kept moving.

"Please don't," Ender said, his eyes firmly shut.

Ben nuzzled his neck again, focusing on Ender's emotions rather than the specifics of how he was getting him to feel that way. "I love you."

Ender whimpered softly, his hips moving just a tad.

He reached back with one hand to touch the back of Ben's neck.

Ben shifted his fingers just a little bit and leaned his head closer to Ender's.

Ender bit down on his bottom lip. He turned his head and pressed a - somewhat clumsy, thanks to the angle - kiss to his cheek. "Kuso," he murmured.

"Let me know if it gets to be too much," Ben murmured, leaning in to suck on Ender's lower lip.

"I will," Ender sighed. "It's good, though, Ben."

He trailed his fingers through Ben's hair.

"Mmmm," Ben sighed in reply, shifting as close as he could get without messing up his hand's location.
