Shuttlecraft on the beach [early afternoon]

Ben'd had a rather difficult few days, so a booty call date with his girlfriend was exactly what the doctor had ordered.

If doctors ordered booty calls dates with girlfriends.

He strode towards the shuttle with chocolate and ice cream (his brain had been giving him Ideas), wondering if he'd beaten Tahiri here.

He was a little anxious to get off the island right now. No reason. Really.

He had, but not by much.

"I see you brought ice cream anyway," Tahiri observed, jogging up to catch up with him. "You know what usually ends up happening to it when we get distracted."

"I've come up with a new use for ice cream soup," he said, leaning in for a kiss.

"Should I be afraid to ask?"

. . . sorry about that, Ben; Tahiri might just be trying to tackle you bodily into the sand.

And hello there, sand. He laughed as he hit the ground. "Well, yes, if it gets covered in grit," he teased.

Tahiri grinned sheepishly and reached a hand out to levitate the ice cream safely above the sand. "It wouldn't do to waste it, would it? Even if you are planning to let it melt for some reason . . ."

"I'm not planning on it," Ben said, grinning up at her, "but I'm feeling pretty distracted this week."

"You and everyone else, it seems like, including me," Tahiri added, and took pity on him; she scrambled to her feet and held a hand to help him up. "I don't think I have a bad feeling about it though."

Not for her, anyway.

Ben smiled again as he felt tingles when they touched. This, he could act on.

"I certainly hope not," he teased, tugging her toward the shuttle. "I thought I'd gotten pretty good at things."

"I haven't complained," Tahiri answered, falling in step beside him. "And you ought to know by now --" she reached for his hand -- "that if I feel like complaining, I will. So you're in pretty good shape there."

Ben squeezed her hand. "Only pretty good?" he teased.

"Well . . ." Tahiri tugged his hand to pull him closer. "I might need to . . . evaluate a little more thoroughly before I can give you a more definitive opinion."

They were never going to get the shuttle at this rate. Ben leaned in to give her a very thorough kissing.

Sure they were. Someday. By accident.

Oh, you think this is as thorough as I meant? Tahiri sent, her mental voice smug.

Ben dropped the ice cream into the shadow of the shuttle--farewell, ice cream--and let his hands roam.

Out here in the open? he replied, not sounding at all unhappy about the prospect.

I don't see why not, Tahiri answered, not at all in the state of mind to think of things like how there weren't any trees to knock over out here on the beach, even though that was a definite bonus. Although I could've sworn you suggested the shuttle because of the beds.

They seem far away right now, Ben declared, kissing her neck.

Closer than the one in my room, Tahiri countered, but . . . she wasn't trying too hard to make a convincing argument.

Letting her hands stray lower, on the other hand . . .

Ben let out a low moan and arched against her. He'd needed something like that all day.

Here is good, he decided. Beds later.

Tahiri let out a low chuckle. Now and later? Not that she sounded as if she was complaining.

I've been thinking about this for days, he admitted as his fingers searched to remove her clothing. Now and later.

"So it wasn't just me then," Tahiri breathed, breaking the kiss just so she could return the favor with Ben's clothes. "Meditating was hard."

Ben snickered at the word choice because he was mature that way. "It was," he agreed, yanking his shirts over his head. "The whole island feels like it's on edge."

"It's a nice kind of being on edge," Tahiri answered, giving him a deliberate little squeeze. She smirked at him, then leaned in to nip at his chest. "I bet meditating wasn't the only hard thing."

"Not at all," he agreed with a gasp. "It's just made it hard--difficult--to concentrate on other things."

He nipped down on her collarbone. "When all I wanted to do was this."

"Just --" Tahiri didn't even blush when she let out a moan a lot more shameless than usual. "Just that? You'd better just be getting warmed up, Ben Skywalker."
