Room 529 [early morning]

Well, Tahiri and Ben had made it home from the dance last night without any embarrassing detours into the stables (don't ask. Just don't), and Ben was taking advantage of the warmth of sharing a bed to not get up for his early, early morning run.

In fact, he was currently pressing his luck and was trying to take more than his fair share of the covers.

"Do you think we let her babysit for him before?" Tahiri had to ask as she opened the door, only to be promptly tacklehugged at the knees by a wee hyper boy.

. . . Leia had a track record. Sorry, Leia.

"Mommy hi!" King bawled gleefully. "Hi, Daddy!"

"Welcome back," Ben said. "You got big!"

"I did!" King detached himself from Tahiri and bounced over to Ben, reaching up in a silent but obvious plea for a hug. "I'mma get my first lightsaber soon. Right?"

Ben reached down to hug him. "You know we have to make sure Granddad is okay with it," he said, trying to hide a grin at how his father would react to that title.

Tahiri glanced at Ben and didn't even try to hide her own grin at the thought.

"He'll probably make you listen to all the stories about Tenel Ka's first lightsaber a million times, first," she told King, wondering if certain details of that story got left out in King's timeline. Or . . . timelines.

"If I had a credit for every time I've heard it," Ben said, smiling, "I could buy a moon."

". . . can you buy a moon, Daddy?" King asked. He did believe his dad could do anything, after all. "Like Uncle Lando?"

"Probably smaller than what Uncle Lando would get," Ben admitted, "but Uncle Lando has all of those credits from his autobiography."

"I don't want Uncle Lando's moon anyway," King decided. "It's too fancy for a Jedi."

"Most things Uncle Lando has are too fancy for Jedi," Ben commented.

"Uh huh." King nodded Very Very Seriously. "But ice cream's not too fancy! Right?"

Tahiri gave Ben a Look. "He's definitely yours."

Ben burst out laughing. "No, ice cream's not too fancy," he assured him. "What's your favorite flavor?"

"I'm s'posed to be neutral. 's a Jedi thing," King informed him in the solemn tone of someone who'd given this question a lot of thought. "I like all of 'em."

But then again, Jedi were supposed to be (mostly) truthful too, so after a moment of chewing on his lip he added, "But I like chocolate a little extra."

Chocolate was harder to get; it was a special treat.

Ben smiled. "I like chocolate best too," he confided, "and here it's not so hard to come by."

"But you're getting breakfast to go with it, first," Tahiri interjected firmly, unsurprised by that preference from either of them. She would've liked to have gotten a shower first, but . . . well, she'd missed King, and moved over to put her hands on his shoulders. "Then lots of chocolate ice cream, promise."

"The diner in town has chocolate chip pancakes," Ben suggested, eyes sparkling. "Let me put on a shirt first."

"Chocolate chip pancakes!" Despite Tahiri's hands on his shoulders, King started bouncing up and down, and there was really nothing Tahiri could do but let him; he was too cute. He ran over to the dresser and started rummaging through it with an eager "Lemme help you find a shirt, Daddy!"

"Nothing that's Mom's," Ben added quickly, shooting Tahiri a grin over King's head.

"But you look so interesting in my shirts, Ben," Tahiri couldn't help replying. And smirking, yes. "Don't do that though, King. They'd stretch awfully and I don't want to have to replace them."

"Besides, I look terrible in pink," Ben said, though he was pretty sure Tahiri owned nothing pink.

King paused halfway through tossing most of the contents of Tahiri's dresser onto the floor and peered over at Ben. "Why would there be anything pink in here? Did you get gremlin-bit again, Daddy?"

"He's got you there, Skywalker," Tahiri said through suppressed laughter.

Ben shuddered. "I'm still getting gremlin bit?"

"Uh huh," King said cheerfully. "'s funny. When do I get to get gremlin bit with you?"

"Not for a very long time, if the gremlins know what's good for them," Ben muttered.

"He's a Skywalker," Tahiri pointed out mildly, as she started picking up the mess King had left behind. "It's really probably inevitable."

"But it only happens when you visit here," King added as if that made things better.

"Thank the Force for that," Tahiri replied. "There's enough creatures back home that try to eat your dad as it is."

"You too, Mommy," King put in.

"Oh. Yay."
