It had taken a few days to break free of the Kathol Rift, but the minute the ship cleared the interference, Ben had his comlink out to make a few long-needed calls back to various galaxies.

Ender and his dad had been good to talk to--or not talk to--but he needed to reconnect with some others, too--especially Jaina.

"Well, my primary goal is to keep you entertained," he teased.

"Well, it doesn't have to be your primary goal, but as long as it ranks somewhere," she laughed. "And for some strange reason it just occurred to me to send you pictures of Grandfather as a cat."

"Please, please, please do that," Ben begged.

"Jan and Juliet got to him," she added.

"Tell me there were ribbons," he demanded.

Jaina already had her phone out while she talked over her comlink. "No need. You should have copies any second now."

And cue the hysterical laughter. "Oh, I needed that."

[solo_sword]

Considering how he had sounded when Jaina first picked up, she was relieved to hear laughter. "Glad I could help."

"I'm glad I called," Ben said, sobering slightly. "Take care of yourself, okay?"

[solo_sword]

"You too," she told him. "May the Force be with you."

"And with you," Ben said quietly.

It was going to be a tough little while for both of them. He could feel it.
