Shakespeare Colony [A month later]

They'd waited for the weather to turn more reliably warm and dry before hosting an outdoor dance in the center of the village. The fight over music had been mostly smoothed over by agreeing to vary the selections between what the colonists who'd arrived recently liked and what the natives had become used to after Ben had offered to provide enough droid spoken word albums to last the entire dance to break the impasse.

Because everyone had agreed that droid spoken word albums were the worst.

And now, in the fine tradition of dances everywhere, no one was dancing in the area cleared for that purpose as everyone gathered in nervous groupings around food and drink tables, staring at people across the floor and hoping someone would ask them to dance.

Ben sighed and tugged at the tie around his neck. "Should we draw names from a hat or something?" he asked Ender.

"Planning a surprise party?" Ben teased, nuzzling Ender's neck.

Shh, it was a nice neck.

"I know better than to try and surprise a well-trained Jedi," Ender said, laughing softly.

Ben kissed him. "You still manage to surprise me sometimes."

"Maybe," Ender said, sliding his fingers back into Ben's hair and kissing him back.

"Sex in the hallway was new, for one," Ben replied, sucking on Ender's lower lip.

"I think that's your own fault," Ender said. "No patience." He made a happy noise in the back of his throat and pressed a little closer.

"I'd say I was sorry, but I wasn't even a little bit sorry," Ben replied, pulling Ender on top of him.

Ender chuckled, abusing his new position by straddling Ben. "I could tell you weren't sorry," he teased. "We nearly did it on the stairs."

Ben's hands wandered along Ender's spine. "How's your back?"

"A little achey," Ender admitted. "But worth it, I think."

Ben closed his eyes and concentrated for a moment, then his hands found the sore spots on Ender's back and began rubbing gently.

Ender leaned forward a little to make that easier on him, sighing softly. "Nice."

"I made it hurt, so I should make it better," Ben murmured.

And he loved the way Ender sighed during massages.

"Very ethical of you," Ender said, smiling down at him.

"I have my moments," Ben said, smiling back.

Ender placed one of his hands on Ben's chest, rubbing his thumb gently over the skin above his heart. "Quite a lot of them tonight."

Ben's heart started beating a little harder under Ender's hand. "Who says we're done?" he teased quietly.

Ender's mouth curved up. "Do you have plans, Skywalker?"

"Always," Ben said, tracing Ender's smile, "especially when you're naked and sitting on me."

"As long as you're enjoying it," Ender joked.

"Always," Ben said, bucking up slightly just to be a pain.

"Brat," Ender said fondly, letting his fingers trail over Ben's chest. "But unless you're getting quicker instead of slower with age..."

"It could happen!" Ben replied.

It hadn't.

[endsthegame]

"You know," Ender said, "It's really stupid to lie about something that's right by my thigh."

Ben chuckled. "Give me a few more minutes."
