Ben & Ender's house on Shakespeare [some evening]

Ben was curled up on the sofa with Ender's rather dry book on anatomy after Ben's research into the subject had brought up suggestions like "Bend Over," "Eating Out," and other titles that had sent Ben into an unhelpful cycle of flail. (Jane had a wicked sense of humor, not that Ben knew that.)

He had a dish of ice cream while he waited for dinner to warm up--his only outward sign of nerves--and kept glancing at the door waiting for Ender to come home.

Just another night, right? If he kept repeating that to himself, maybe he'd believe it.

[OOC: This is going to get waaaaaaay NWS, methinks. For the boy.]

"You say it enough," Ender said fondly.

Ben kissed his jaw. "I never want you to doubt it."

"I don't," Ender said, pressing a hand to Ben's shoulder. "I love you too."

Ben kissed him again. "I know."

"This is a good night," Ender sighed.

"One of the best," Ben agreed, nuzzling his neck again.

Ender cupped the back of Ben's head. "Very good," he murmured. "Just want to fall asleep with you..."

"One second," Ben said, shifting slightly so he could lay down. "Sleep is good."

Ender immediately reached out and touched his arm. "Very," he agreed. "Mhm. And you're pretty." Shut up. He didn't need to make sense.

"So're you," Ben said, curling closer. "Like you naked."

"Can't be that all the time," Ender said, wrapping his arms around Ben.

"Get drafty?" Ben guessed, yawning.

"You'd never let me leave the house," Ender said, pulling up the covers.

"Also true," Ben said. "Especially now that we have this new thing--"

Ender hummed contently in the back of his throat. "But also let's not neglect the old things."

"I won't neglect any part of you," Ben promised softly.

"Sentimental fool," Ender said fondly, and kissed his cheek.

"You love me for it," Ben said with a smile.

"And for a whole lot of other things," Ender said, and yawned. "Right now, 'making me want to fall asleep right here' tops the list."

"We were busy," Ben said, yawning because Ender yawned. "Night, kreetle."

"Night, love," Ender said, smiling a tiny smile to himself.

He shut his eyes.

Ben closed his eyes as well and dropped off to sleep almost immediately. Warm, worn out and feeling deeply loved was a magic combination.
