Ben leaned against the balcony of their suite in the Fountain Palace and sighed softly. Hapes really was ridiculously beautiful, and while he preferred Naboo because of the lack of constant political posturing, he did enjoy getting to show Ender and Val off to Tenel Ka, who flatly refused to believe he was old enough to have a baby of his own when she could still remember changing his bottom.

The laughter from her guards at that had almost made the embarrassment worth it. "I think it's time for dinner soon," Ben called into Ender. "It's hard to gage here by the sun because it never gets fully dark."

"What makes it hard, then?" Ben asked, focusing on Ender's face.

"Feeling like I'm worth this," Ender murmured. "The real thing."

Ben leaned in and kissed him again.

Ender sighed against his mouth, then tugged Ben deeper into the kiss.

Ben cupped Ender's cheek as he kissed back, keeping it sweet and sincere.

Ender was too tired for much more than that anyway, but it helped calm his emotions. He was smiling when they broke away. "Sap," he murmured.

"When it comes to you, absolutely," Ben replied.

Ender kissed his forehead. "Then go to sleep knowing you are loved and very much appreciated," he said softly, "Because the feeling is mutual."

Ben smiled softly and tucked his head into its usual spot on Ender's shoulder. "I know."

"Sleep well, love," Ender said, shutting his eyes.

"You too, kreetle," Ben said, falling asleep.
