Aboard the Jade Shadow [Tuesday, Fandom time]

Ben was grabbing a quick snack as he waited in the galley for his father to finish docking the ship on the first human-majority planet they'd seen in months and taking the chance to catch up on more reading about the Aing-Tii Monks. As soon as they restocked their supplies and checked for physical mail (Ben hoped that Tony's package would catch up with them here), they'd be heading into Aing-Tii space, which was a challenging enough flight that Luke Kriffing Skywalker looked slightly apprehensive about it.

Ben stopped being nervous by remembering that if Jacen had been able to do it, Luke would be able to do it better.

...it had never been said that Ben could not be very petty if the occasion called for it.

"They have X-Wings on them," Ben replied. "They shouldn't be too tough to find amid all of your regulation everything."

They lived together! Naturally Ben knew what Ender's underthings looked like. It wasn't like he spent time looking at them or anything. Really.

"Then be my guest and find them," Ender said. Whilst choosing not to go down the path of wondering whether Ben looked at his underthings.

At least he chose it consciously.

"Do I have to fold all of your clothing as carefully as you were?" he teased, standing up to come over to the box.

"You're allowed an extra millimeter of wiggle room," Ender replied, "Don't abuse it."

"I'll do my best," Ben said, reaching out to tousle Ender's hair. "Nice haircut, by the way. I'd been forgetting what color your eyes were."

"A fair comment, coming from the original sheepdog," Ender said, shooting him a look. "But I should be able to tackle another few weeks of imprisonment somewhere this way."

"And I bought you some barrettes, just in case," Ben added, handing Ender another shirt.

Which Ender folded absently. "As long as they're shiny."

"Of course," Ben replied, folding a pair of sweatpants. "They'll match your navy blue sweater."

"Ben Skywalker, fashion designer."

"It's one of my many talents," Ben said with a laugh.

"I can tell," Ender said, reaching over and fishing out... another black t-shirt.

"Black is slimming," Ben proclaimed.

"I did notice you were developing a belly."

Sorry, Ender, but the shirt was coming back off. "Am I?"

Ben sounded horrified.

"Easily goaded?" Ender said, mentally facepalming. "Yes."

Ben poked his abdomen experimentally. "I'll add more situps anyway," he decided, blushing.

Ender blinked at him, then shook his head. "It's just another 'adolescent ribbing' thing--" he started, then stopped, then mentally threw his hands up and refrained from saying something like 'you have nothing to be worried about'. "Okay."

"It doesn't hurt to be a little over-prepared," Ben mumbled from inside his shirt again.

"Yes," Ender said, "God forbid you ever wind up mugged by your own spare tire."

He dressed well (if minimalistically) because Jane made him it carried certain connotations for the people he met. But so far, he had yet to ever look in the mirror and give a crap about what looked back at him aesthetically.

Or worry about spare tires, for that matter.

"That seems more like a Fandom phenomenon," Ben decided, poking his stomach again anyway. "And without ice cream, I think I'm pretty safe out here."

Vain, vain, vain.

"Not that I think the Aing-Tii will care."

Ender snorted, fishing another shirt out of the box. It was one of his old Property-of-the-IF ones, though. "Not likely, no," he said, "We'll probably look quite odd enough to them as it is."

"And there's a huge difference between rock-hard abs and actual rock," Ben added, pulling out a pair of (yes, black) sleep pants.

"I can't believe you just used the phrase 'rock-hard abs', Ben," Ender said, folding up his shirt. Which looked like it was one of his old ones which was just a little too small. Sigh, Tony.

"It shows up on infomercials at 3 in the morning a lot," he protested.

Because apparently that makes it okay.
