There are fewer things more awkward than waking up as a pony in a twin bed.

Sharing that twin bed with another pony was one of those things.

"Um, Ender?"

At least it made his mane flutter out of his eyes for a second?

"It's been a while since we've had something insane happen," Ben noted with a sigh.

"I can't say I was counting the days until it came back to us," Ender sighed. "We're going to have to figure out different sleeping arrangements, if it lasts until tonight."

It took Ben two attempts to get out of the bed himself and while he wasn't quite as painful looking as Ender's exit, it wasn't graceful either. "How do real ponies sleep?"

"...I think they stand upright," Ender said. "I'm not really an expert."

He took a step back to give Ben some space.

Ben clopped on over and let out a little sigh. "You're still bigger than me."

"I think you're just going to have to get used to that," Ender said, shooting him a wry look. Then nudging at Ben's shoulder with his... well, his face.

"That feels good," Ben said, sounding surprised.

Ender let go of a distinctly equine snort. "No hands," he said.

"I'd noticed that," Ben said, bumping into Ender's flank. "Trained investigator and all."

Ender spread one wing carefully out over Ben. "Ah, I'd forgotten about that," he said, "What with the complaining and all.

Ben laughed. "Those tickle," he said. "Do they work?"

"I just woke up," Ender replied. "I think we'll have to figure out the door handle before I try wings."

Ben frowned. "Wonder if the Force will still work for me."

The sudden image of him trying to fight with a lightsaber propped in his mouth flitted through his mind and he chuckled. "Hopefully nothing invades before this wears off..."

"Stampeding horses have claimed a lot of lives over the years," Ender noted. "And that horn of yours looks sharp."

Thank you, Ender.

"But let's not bet on that."

"I'm not going to figure out how sharp my horn is," Ben replied, tossing his mane. "Let's see if I can get the door open."

He closed his eyes and concentrated...and his horn started glowing.

"...The horn and the Force might be interconnected," Ender observed.

He was also trying to come up with ways to open doors himself; he was hardly going to follow Ben around the premises all day.

The door clicked open and Ben looked pleased. "Now to figure out if we can go down stairs."

"In a minute," Ender said, trotting over to the door. "I need to take a whack at this."

"In that case," Ben said teasingly, "charge it with your head."

Ender trotting was kind of adorably hilarious to him.

Ender ignored him, and... headbutted the door back shut.

Don't even, Skywalker.

Ben grinned, but didn't say anything. He was really looking forward to watching Ender figure this out.

Shhhh, so he loved when his boyfriend demonstrated how smart he was.

Well, Ender thought, his hooves might be able to produce the kind of force required to push down the door handle, but they wouldn't have the dexterity required to then pull it open. His wings wouldn't be able to produce enough force, and he doubted they had the grip to give it a good pull.

But he might manage it with his teeth, if he was careful.

Which was exactly what he did: grabbed the handle between his teeth, pulled it down, then took one step back. The door opened, and he could shove a hoof between it to pull it open the rest of the way.

"Good," he said, "I won't have to tow you around everywhere I go."

"I'd applaud but, well, hooves," Ben replied.

"Stairs," Ender said firmly. "And we'll see if I can glide, at least."

"Hope we can go downstairs," Ben said. "I'm hungry."
