Aboard the Mrs. Morgan [a month after last time]

Game night had gone without a hitch (well, other than the argument Ben had in his halting French with a colonist trying to skip Park Place in Monopoly) and he and Ender were now heading back to their room after a brief stop for ice cream and drinks in the mess.

"That was fun," he said, bumping his shoulder into Ender's. "Movie night next?"

Ender kissed his cheek. "Yes," he said, "There's a whole different set of insults for that."

"Many dealing with a nationality I don't have?" Ben guessed.

"Yep," Ender agreed. "And the general observation that it makes you sound 'snooty'."

"I'm not snooty!" Ben declared. "I sound snooty?"

"The English accent is often considered snooty," Ender said. "Well. The variety of it that sounds like yours. On the upside, it also makes you sound cultured." A pause. "As long as you're not shouting 'Astral!'. I'm not sure anything can save that."

Ben reached out to tickle him. "Hey now."

Ender swatted his hands away. "Not that it's not cute, you sounding like a schoolboy again."

"I wasn't ever a schoolboy," Ben replied, moving to tickle him again.

"You were a boy and you were in school," Ender replied. "I, for one, excelled at being a schoolboy so much, they made me do it thrice."

"Oh, did they tell you you excelled at that?" Ben teased.

"You mean that might all have been a lie?" Ender asked.

"Maybe," Ben said, blowing a raspberry on Ender's neck.

Ender chuckled, squirming a little.

Congratulations - he'd shaken his emo. "Brat," he said fondly. "I don't know how those colonists put up with you."

"Oh, half of them are trying to get in good with you," Ben laughed.

"They can get in good with me by talking with me," Ender said, tickling Ben under the ribs.

Ben laughed and rolled on top of Ender. "Oh, but you're scary."

"Maybe I should start working on my English accent," Ender said, looking up at him with amusement.

"And your smile," Ben said, kissing his nose. "...on second thought, keep that for me. It could melt ferrocrete."

Ender laughed. "Now there's a super-power," he said.

Ben took a deep breath. "There's the one," he said, tracing Ender's mouth. "Kuso."

Well, Ender could hardly stop smiling now, even if that smile softened. "I didn't realize it was that bad."

"You do that on the observation deck and Alessandra won't be the only person getting thrown at you," Ben said, leaning in to kiss that smile.

Ender slid his hands into Ben's hair and kissed him back. "Mm," he murmured. "Awkward."

"Little bit," Ben replied. "Have to beat them off with a stick."

Ender snorted softly. "I think I'll try to avoid that."
