Shakespeare Colony [A month later]

They'd waited for the weather to turn more reliably warm and dry before hosting an outdoor dance in the center of the village. The fight over music had been mostly smoothed over by agreeing to vary the selections between what the colonists who'd arrived recently liked and what the natives had become used to after Ben had offered to provide enough droid spoken word albums to last the entire dance to break the impasse.

Because everyone had agreed that droid spoken word albums were the worst.

And now, in the fine tradition of dances everywhere, no one was dancing in the area cleared for that purpose as everyone gathered in nervous groupings around food and drink tables, staring at people across the floor and hoping someone would ask them to dance.

Ben sighed and tugged at the tie around his neck. "Should we draw names from a hat or something?" he asked Ender.

"True," Ben agreed, sliding his hands a little frantically along Ender's hips.

"Just a couple more steps," Ender said, half-chuckling and attempting to tackle... at least one of those steps.

Ben just wanted to tackle him, period.

He groaned softly and made it up another step before pushing back into Ender again.

"Being ridiculous," he muttered between kisses, "but I don't care."

"At least you're honest," Ender teased, yanking on Ben's shirt, trying to get it off... at some point.

Ben popped a few buttons as he pulled the thing off and dropped it down the stairs, then went back to kissing Ender with the intensity of someone who hadn't done it in far too long.

Which...wasn't true, but Ben really enjoyed seeing Ender dressed up.

Ender groaned softly, despite the railing digging into his back. He slid his hands up along Ben's body, enjoying himself very much, thank you.

They'd tackle those three remaining steps (well, four or five for Ender) any minute now...

Maybe the next minute? Right now Ben was busy sucking on Ender's neck, something that couldn't wait until they scaled the clearly enormous flight of four or five steps.

Ender leaned a little further up against the wall and the railing (... that might hurt later) and tilted his head to give Ben more room, running his nails over Ben's nipple in retaliation.

Ben moaned and then bit down hard in reply, shifting one of his hands to press against the front of Ender's pants.

Ender whimpered in an entirely undignified way, knocking his head back against the wall.

"Look at you," Ben breathed, biting Ender's earlobe and keeping his hand exactly where it was

As much as Ender really, really didn't want Ben to move, he still had enough brain cells to tell him they really needed to head up, or they'd fall down the stairs and that... well, it might ruin the moment.

"C'mon," he said, moving a few steps up through sheer feat of will.

Ben sighed but finally managed to get off the steps, at least. All the way to their room (which was, in non-hormone-hazed terms, not that far) might be asking a bit much when Ender was this kissable.

Ender seemed to have pretty much the same idea, because the moment they'd gotten away from the stairs he was kissing Ben again, hands all over Ben's back.

Ben pressed Ender back against a wall (at least there wasn't a railing now?) and slid his hands over Ender's sides, trying to push as close as possible.

Ender was hardly going to complain about it now - and even if he wanted to, he was already using his tongue for something else. He kept running his fingers up and down Ben's back, feeling out skin and scars equally.

"Fuck," Ben breathed, working on getting Ender's pants off, or at least down and out of the way.

"Please," Ender murmured, nipping at Ben's neck while Ben was distracted.

Ben's groan echoed a bit down the stairs. "You're being distracting and this button is hard," he complained.

Ender chuckled softly against Ben's neck. "How's this, then?" he said, keeping still.

"Better," Ben replied, making short work on Ender's pants, then his own and going back to kissing him.

Ender cupped Ben's ass with both hands this time, pulling him even closer. He groaned at the contact, and nipped at Ben's bottom lip without much subtlety.

Ben growled out a curse in Huttese and stroked his fingers deliberately along the scar on the back of Ender's neck.

"Mmm, yes," Ender breathed. He propped himself up against the wall and slid his hand down Ben's thigh.

Ben rocked hard into Ender for that, gasping into his neck.
