It was old habit that led Ben to sit on asking Ender "what the hell was that?" about their meeting with Cade, their frankly terrifying and surly grandson, what the hell what the hell what the hell, until they were tucked into bed together.

"Soo..." he began. "What the hell was that?"

Ben just wanted closeness for as long as possible, so the pace suited him just fine. He tilted his head up a bit so Ender could reach more of his neck because that had felt ridiculously good.

Ender nipped down his neck slowly, making sure to give every patch of skin a little attention.

Ben sighed softly, running his fingers along Ender's spine. "Nice--"

"That's the idea," Ender murmured against his neck.

He hovered halfway there, deciding not to go any lower. Instead he pressed his mouth to one of the marks he'd left and paid it some extra attention while his hand slid down between Ben's legs.

Ben let out a little moan. "Hi there," he whispered, scratching his fingers down Ender's back.

"Hi," Ender murmured, kissing just below his jaw. "Love you."

It was a reaffirmation kind of night.

"Love you more," Ben whispered, sliding his hands around Ender and hugging him tight.

"Competitive," Ender whispered affectionately, moving his hand (but not too fast).

"Sometimes," Ben said, arching up into Ender, "but not today."

Ender smiled and kissed his cheek. "No," he agreed, brushing away some of Ben's bangs with his free hand. He let it settle on Ben's face, thumb brushing over his cheekbone.

Ben sighed softly, closing his eyes. "This is really, really good."

"That's the idea," Ender said quietly.

Ben leaned in and kissed him again, then slid his hand between them to help Ender out as well.

Ender gasped softly and pressed his face into Ben's neck. "Yes," he breathed.

"Just in case you needed some reassurance too," Ben whispered, moving his hand in a slow rhythm.

Ender smiled to himself. "You know me too well," he said softly.

"Not a bad thing," Ben replied, kissing him softly.

Ender kissed him back with more heat. "Definitely."

Ben let out a small, contented sigh but kept his hand moving at the same steady tempo. "I love you so much."

"I know," Ender said, running his thumb soothingly along Ben's cheek, keeping his eyes locked on Ben's.

"Ohh," Ben said softly as he maintained eye contact. This was feeling very, very intimate.

Ben needed that from time to time; Ender figured tonight was one of those times.

He didn't kiss Ben again, but let his lips part as he gasped softly.

Ben reached his free hand out to trace Ender's mouth. "You are so--you take my breath away," he babbled.

"Thanks," Ender said, said mouth curving at the edges. "You're not-- so bad yourself."

"Well, I work out," Ben babbled.
