Turns out that waking up as a woman when your daughter is expecting you to be a man is not the most exhilirating start to a morning-now-heading-into-afternoon.

"Come on, Val," Ben soothed, rocking the sobbing infant as he paced the room for the thousandth time. "It's me. I still feel the same in the Force, I just...look different."

Perhaps philosophical discussions of gender and sex were not the place to start with a distraut one month old. "Ender?"

"Shhhh, little one," Ben whispered, reaching out through the Force with reassurance. "I don't look like what you remember, but I'm still Daddy."

"I think she's just confused because we do and don't come across as her parents," Ender sighed.

"And kuso is she pissy about it," Ben agreed.

"Do you think a group hug will hurt or hinder us here?" Ender asked wryly.

"It would help me?" Ben said.

"C'mere, then," Ender said softly, holding out his arms.

Ben tipped himself into Ender's chest, holding Val carefully against him.

...and Val took the moment to bite--no teeth, but still--at lady parts he hadn't had yesterday.

"OWWWW."

Ender winced. "Kuso," he said, "Are you okay?!"

"Not really?" Ben said in a pained little voice. "Ow, kid. Not okay."

Ender ran his hands over Ben's shoulders and gave them what he hoped was a soothing rub.

"This weekend just isn't going to improve, is it?"

"Can't imagine using the 'so once I turned into a women and you bit my boob in a wedding toast, no," Ben said, sighing.

"Maybe we have to remind her that it's highly unlikely you're lactating?" Ender mused.

Sure, Wiggin.

"I want to hit you so much right now," Ben grumbled.

"Violence is never the answer," Ender said, rubbing Ben's shoulders with a little more pressure.

"Teach that to the boob biting baby," Ben groused.

"I would, but I'm not sure she'll remember anything at this age," Ender sighed.

"Tell her later, just in case," Ben said, patting Val's back as she started fussing again.

"This part ends," Ender said firmly.

He just wasn't sure when.

"Not soon enough," Ben whined.

"We'll be able to sleep again within the year, at the least," Ender said.

He was not willing to make any promises regarding their sex life or lack thereof.

Ben rocked Val, biting his lower lip. "I know this stuff has a tendency to follow us, but maybe Fandom isn't the greatest stop for us this second if she's going to react this badly to changes."

Ender watched them both, looking thoughtful for a moment or two.

"You might be right," he said finally, quietly. Not that he'd mourn leaving Fandom particularly much, but he knew Ben liked being here. "Maybe we should leave it at a half-semester. We haven't had any huge catastrophes yet, either, and we know one is going to be inbound."

Ben glanced down at Val again. "At least until she's old enough to be able to understand what's going on."

"So we might have to wait. Maybe even through last summer," Ender said.

Though Wiggins were quick to learn. He knew as much. "Are you okay with that?"

"If it's a choice between being here and having our daughter in hysterics for a weekend, it's not really a choice," Ben murmured.
