Ben had been to some stupidly decadent restaurants (being the son of Luke Skywalker had its privileges), but this one blew even those most ridiculous on Coruscant out of the water.

"This is barvy," he muttered to Ender as their waiter led them to their table. "Look at all of the people here. And...other beings...of course."

Ben hadn't been knocked so completely off-stride in years.

"I knew what I liked," Ben said, "and poked at my grapes until I got something drinkable. This wine list has volumes. I'm hopelessly outclassed here."

"So is this a wine you like, or a wine you don't like?" Ender said, amused. "That's the important part."

"It's a wine I like but don't love," Ben said, then laughed. "Wonder if they had mine on the menu."

"With a wine list this long, it's possible," Ender said, smiling. "You should have looked."

"Maybe for my next glass," Ben said, laughing.

"Now you're living dangerously," Ender said dryly.

"I might even drink three," Ben said airily. "Live it up before everything explodes."

"I'm terribly glad I've secured your phone now," Ender said wryly. "I still don't know what kind of drunk you are, besides 'ridiculous'."

"Extremely happy," Ben admitted, sipping from his glass. "And ridiculous."

"That'll be interesting," Ender said, "Though it definitely doesn't sway me to ever try alcohol."

"You don't really like ridiculousness," Ben admitted.

"But I'm very fond of you, and you are often ridiculous," Ender said.

Ben laughed. "I think I'm about all the ridiculousness you'd want," he said.

"A very handsome brand of ridiculous," Ender said fondly, "Who occasionally listens to reason. So my favorite kind."

Ben laughed. "Well, I try."

Ender smiled at him, giving his foot a tiny nudge with his own. "Well, while you're still in the right mind," he said, "We should talk about what to do while we're still on Fandom."

"Sure," Ben said with another smile. "More time with Karla, obviously. What else?"

"A walk in the preserve with Val?" Ender suggested.

"That sounds astral," Ben said. "Putting her into the water, too? Experiencing a bit of weightlessness?"

"Teach her how to swim," Ender said, a faint smile appearing on his face. "Now there's a Wiggin family tradition."

Ben smiled at him, eyes sparkling. "I know."

"We should do it together," Ender said, smiling slightly. "Take her out into the lake. Or maybe we should start in the pool..."

"The pool," Ben said. "That's where we started, after all..."

"I don't think we can sneak into the dorms, love," Ender said fondly. "But at the gym, maybe."

Ben laughed, blushing. "You know, sometimes I forget we're still not fifteen."
