After his daily run and trip to the gym, Ben had retreated to his room (not that he would see it that way) to continue working on the Thor helmet he'd been making for Jono.

Which was why Ben was currently hovering a good foot off of the ground and looking quite pleased with himself. The motor to make the wings actually serve a purpose was working!

The door was cracked open.

Ben frowned and moved his other hand up, massaging her shoulders. "I've never found Zekk all that interesting," he said.

"He's not exactly the Jedi you hope you're sitting next to at a boring function, yeah," Tahiri agreed. She might just close her eyes for a second here. Good thing she was leaning against him.

Ben had kind of counted on her leaning against him. This way it was much easier to work the kinks out of the small of her back, too.

"But that wasn't my group of friends, either," he said. "Maybe he's thrilling when he's talking to Jaina."

"Not whenever I've been in earshot -- oh. That's nice," she told him, relaxing just a fraction more. "But maybe that was just because they thought I was just a kid."

And now she was going to be a little disturbed wondering about that.

"You're not a kid," Ben said, "and you haven't been one for years."

"You know that," Tahiri said, a little of the residual frustration leaking into her voice, "and Jaina here knows it, but they still treated me like one. Even after Myrkr."

Ben kept rubbing her back. "Want me to kick them?"

"It's okay." She curled a little closer against him and started to trail her fingers along his spine. "It's stupid to still be mad about that, anyway. Isn't it?"

"Maybe a little," Ben admitted, "but it doesn't mean that I wouldn't be mad about it still."

[weetuskenraider]

"Well, there's no point in being mad about it right now when they're a galaxy away. Seems like a waste of energy." Which was a precious commodity right now. Tahiri gave Ben a thoughtful look. "But even if it's stupid, it's kind of normal."

"When have we ever been normal?" he asked with a slightly strained laugh.

"I meant normal for us," Tahiri clarified, her own laugh just as strained.

Ben held on a little more tightly. "I love you," he murmured.

Tahiri pulled him a little closer, but raised her head to look up at him. "Love you too, Ben."

"That is very good to hear," he said, smiling.

[weetuskenraider]

"I thought you might need the reminder," she teased.

[momslilassassin]

His cheeks went pink. "It hasn't been that long a week."

Tahiri grinned -- it still took a tiny bit of effort, but she managed it. "No. But I like reminding you anyway."

He leaned down to kiss her nose. "I'm not complaining."

[weetuskenraider]

Tahiri's eyes might have crossed, if she hadn't been closing them. "Oh, good. I was a little confused there, because I thought you might have been. The smile threw me off."

[momslilassassin]

"Doof," Ben said fondly.

[weetuskenraider]

"Your doof, though," Tahiri pointed out. She thought this was Very Logical.

[momslilassassin]

"And I'm very grateful for that," Ben said, smiling and absolutely sincere.

[weetuskenraider]

"You better be," Tahiri told him. Mostly teasing.
