Attention world: Ben Skywalker finally got his hair cut!

Newly shorn (not quite military short, but close) thanks to the people at the spa (where he rather vehemently turned down a massage, an eyebrow sculpting and a pedicure. The staff had discovered quickly how easy it was to make him blush), he was now back in his room tinkering with a couple of projects that he was thinking of turning into holiday gifts.

The door was wide open.

"I get to be first in line," Ben said a little grimly. "Granddad can kriffing wait."

"I'd hold him back if he tried to cut," Jaina assured him.

"Get holos if you succeed," Ben said, cracking a smile.

She smiled slightly, but asked, "And is there anything else I've missed in all this time?"

"There was a thing with Karla," Ben said, "but I don't want to give you nightmares."

Jaina stared at him. "Go on a vacation. You need it."

He shrugged. "I'm fine."

"Yeah, yeah, I know," she said. "Do it anyway. Look who this is coming from." She may have learned the value of taking breaks this summer, yes.

"Did Connecticut count as a vacation?" he asked.

[solo_sword]

"No," she replied immediately. "Take another."

[momslilassassin]

"Maybe once Tahiri's doing better," Ben decided. "I don't want her to think that the pressure's too much. I won't make her feel guilty."

"Whatever works. I'm not saying do it right away, but if you've got one month filled with that much stuff, do what it takes to go a little less nuts dealing with it all."

Ben blinked at her. "I'm not going nuts. I'm just not sleeping, but that's been normal for a year."

"I'm not saying you are. I haven't spent enough time with you lately to be able to say you are," she pointed out. "It's a hypothetical. And not sleeping isn't normal, and how am I on this side of this conversation?"

"No idea," Ben said with a wry smile. "After classes are done, I'll get away somewhere that isn't here or home, okay?"

"Good. And remember, you know someone with sped up time enough that you won't even miss anything here." And maybe she could get him to put something horrible in Nancy's shampoo or something.

"He did invite me to visit," Ben said, "even after he got my package."

[solo_sword]

"There was a package?" She was also wondering when this was, but she'd get to that.

[momslilassassin]

"Since he was getting so old, I sent him fiber drinks and stuff," Ben said, looking very pleased with himself.

[solo_sword]

"Nice," Jaina said with a little smile. "So you've talked to him recently?" This would be her testing to see whether or not she needed to add a little 'It's not just John anymore' disclaimer.

Ben nodded, looking wary. "I'm still allowed to be friends with him, right? Even with...stuff?"

[solo_sword]

"The wife," she nodded, though she couldn't not make a bit of a face. "I don't get to tell you who to be friends with and who not to, and I was the one suggesting you go there. Just don't like her better than me." Though Jaina didn't think that possible.

Ben scoffed. "I'm not going to like her better. She didn't think the wig was as astral as it totally was."

"I... know better than to ask for clarification," she said.

"I sent a giant white wig and he sent a photo back. Whatsherface didn't look happy," Ben said.
