Part o' the Preserve [Sunday evening]

Most people didn't view an invasion as a Great Date Night, but Ben and Tahiri weren't exactly most people.

"These don't seem very much like the other gremlins," Ben replied, making a little face when he got sprayed with blood from a poorly executed lightsaber swipe.

Think there's another one behind me, she sent, more interested in nipping at his lower lip than actually turning around to deal with it.

Force help them if this were an invasion of bigger creatures.

Oh, if it was rancors or something, they'd be way less distracted.

Ben swatted the gremlin into a tree with a wave of his hand and went back to kissing Tahiri.

If it was rancors in the preserve, the falling tree branches might actually get Tahiri's attention. She hadn't forgotten the last falling-tree incident.

Emphasis here on might, since a casual gesture sent another gremlin flying, after which Tahiri resumed trailing her hand up Ben's jaw and into his hair.

Ben whimpered just a little and stepped them back to rest against a tree.

For, um, greater coverage from gremlins. Yes!

Like the one that was climbing up the other side of the tree, fully intent on leaping down at them!

Which Tahiri was totally paying attention to as she tugged lightly at Ben's hair.

"Gremlin," Ben murmured, focused more on kissing her neck than the creature in question.

See, they had a system going here!

Tahiri didn't even try to reach out with her hand to Force-shove the gremlin across the clearing this time. Her fingers tightened in Ben's hair, her other arm went to wrap around his waist and pull him close, and the gremlin went flying anyway.

"Nice," Ben replied, nipping at her other ear.

Making out in the middle of a battlefield and being effective fighters anyway. The rest of the school was going to be so jealous.

"You are," Tahiri said once she'd finished whimpering, somewhat nonsensically.

Well, for a measure of effective anyway. Some of those gremlins were bound to come to and come after them. And probably be madder.

Ben's hands should probably stop wandering and concentrate more on remembering where his weapon NOT DIRTY was, but he was having far too much fun getting Tahiri to whimper like that.

Tahiri was having far too much fun getting him to get her to whimper like that, especially if it encouraged him to let his hands wander because oh, wow, that was nice.

Her hands might be doing just a bit of careful wandering too, actually. Nowhere near his weapon, thank you.

"Gremlin," Ben gasped, then went back to kissing her neck.

Tahiri was getting a little fed up with these gremlins. They were interrupting valuable makeout time here! She slumped back against the tree trunk, trying to pull Ben with her (because that was clearly the Best Battle Tactic Ever), kicked out at the gremlin . . .

And missed. Look. There was neck-kissing going on.

"You missed," Ben noted with a smile, reaching out with the Force a bare centimeter before the gremlin chomped on his arm (oh, the Lecture his grandfather would have delivered, should this tactic have been seen) and tossed it a good hundred yards.

And then back to kissing.

What would the Lecture have been about? The missing, or the reason for it?

"You're distracting," Tahiri retorted mildly.

"I'm not that distracting," Ben declared before running his tongue around the shell of her ear.

And ignoring the taste of gremlin guts because wow, was that not romantic.

"Are --" Tahiri tried to slide her fingers just under the hem of his tunic. "-- too."

Yeah, she wasn't envying him the taste of that right now. At all. She did think it was kind of cute that he'd put up with it, though.

Ben made a very manly--really--squeaking sound and pushed closer.

Nearby a branch fell from a tree and smacked a sneaking gremlin in the head.

Ben hadn't planned that, but he'd gladly take credit for it.

She'd gladly give him the credit for it. She'd also very gladly try and trail her fingers over his skin -- skin that wasn't quite so covered in gremlin gunk.

He moaned against her ear and pressed further against her. "Tahiri."

Totally not noticing the three--slightly stunned, to be sure, but plenty pissed--gremlins stalking closer.

"Yeah?" Tahiri breathed, flexing her fingers slightly against his chest. "Ben . . . behind you."

"This is getting annoying," Ben complained, stepping back and igniting his lightsaber. "Back off, guys," he told the gremlins.

Just in case negotiations would work or something.

"I'm not sure they're here to discuss terms," Tahiri said with an exasperated sigh of her own as she powered on her own lightsaber and fell in beside him.

No, really? By this point in the weekend, really?

Well, the various bits of gremlin that surrounded the two of them probably wasn't helping the gremlins to feel this was a very safe space, either.

"You guys run away, I'll go back to kissing my girlfriend, and no one gets killed, okay?" Ben tried.

In response, one sprang for his face.

"It was worth a try?" Tahiri offered, slashing out at one of the other gremlins when it tried to make a flying bite-tackle at her elbow.
