The nice thing about the time difference between home and Fandom was that Ben had time to run a few errands for his father (the reason he'd come back home), pick up a package of comfort food for Tahiri and still have time to meet up with Ender and Karla for lunch before they headed back.

"So, any particular food requests today?" he asked them. "Dad said he might be able to swing by if we pick somewhere close to the Temple."

That got Luke to laugh--the mental image of Darth Vader eating cookies was a little too much for him.

Okay, so Luke did know that. Karla relaxed a bit. "He really did," she said, earnestly. "If we had more time, I'd bake some and show you!"

Be glad you dodged that blaster bolt, Luke.

"Maybe next time," Luke said with a smile. "Ender's been back here on a few trips."

Luke, there is such a thing as being too nice.

"That'd be great!" Karla exclaimed. "If someone can teach me how to use all the fancy equipment, maybe I could cook dinner, too!"

"That sounds wonderful," said poor, poor Luke as Ben gave him a "oh please, Dad, no," look that was summarily ignored.
