Yes, he'd done it last year.

Yes, he still thought it was funny.

Ben glanced at the calendar one more time, chuckled and commed his father.

"Skywalker."

"Hey, Dad. May the Fourth be with you!"

There was a pause and then a heavy sigh. "Again?"

Ben laughed, hung up and went back to putting his droid back together. Tiny him had been industrious about ripping it apart.

Tiny him was annoying.

"Don't leave them all over the place, then," Tahiri retorted, leaning in to headbutt his chest lightly.

He ruffled her hair. "I'll be more careful," he replied, grinning.

Tahiri swatted playfully at his hand. "Yes, considering you aren't four now, I'm not worried."

[momslilassassin]

"I was a very organized four year old," Ben proclaimed.

[weetuskenraider]

"But you were still four," Tahiri countered. "When your standards of organized weren't quite up to what they are now."

"Very true," Ben said. "I think I was going by size or something."

[weetuskenraider]

"Apparently." Tahiri poked at the nearest part, momentarily struck by relief (it was still occasionally a surprise) that she didn't have to worry about the sight of this stuff making her go off the deep end unexpectedly. "That's how I'd do it too, but then again that's why you're the expert on these things, not me."

Ben smiled. "I tend to go alphabetically these days."

"Because," Tahiri said affectionately, "you're a showoff."

"Yes, I am terribly proud of my ability to read," Ben agreed.

"We're all very proud of you for it." Tahiri's eyes twinkled at him. "We were so worried for a while . . ."

Ben thwacked her with his pillow. "Hey!"

Tahiri deserved that anyway. "Was it something I said?"

"You're not as cute as you think you are," Ben declared.

Which wasn't true at all.

[weetuskenraider]

"Neither are you," Tahiri replied sweetly.

The way she was moving in to hug him might make it incredibly obvious how untrue that was.

Ben clung tightly. This time of year was bad for a kid with abandonment issues. "Hey," he said.

It wasn't as if Tahiri was a stranger to those issues either, so she was hanging on just as tightly.

"Hi. Mind if I stick around for a while?"

"I never mind," Ben said, kissing her cheek.

[weetuskenraider]

Tahiri leaned into him, getting comfortable. "I can even help you with the droid. I'm very good at handing you parts if you point at them and ask."

[momslilassassin]

"That would be really helpful," Ben said sincerely. "Thanks. Let me find the schematics. I don't think I colored on them."

[weetuskenraider]

Tahiri peered around the room in hopes of spotting said schematics, asking, "Am I allowed to laugh if you did?"

"Definitely," Ben said, reaching under the bed for the plans. He sighed. "Start laughing."

Tahiri did, leaning back against the bed and closing her eyes while her shoulders shook. "Did you at least have a complicated color scheme?"

"I seemed to really like blue," Ben replied. "So...no."

Tahiri opened her eyes and reached over to touch his cheek. "It's a good color on you," she noted, smiling at him.
