It had taken a few days to break free of the Kathol Rift, but the minute the ship cleared the interference, Ben had his comlink out to make a few long-needed calls back to various galaxies.

Ender and his dad had been good to talk to--or not talk to--but he needed to reconnect with some others, too--especially Jaina.

"There's a place called the Kathol Rift," Ben said, "and the further you fly into it--which isn't easy to do to start--the more it messes with your brain. You start thinking there are spiders all over the ship. For some reason that's not in the brochures."

"Ben." Tony shook his head, pushing his laptop away now that focusing on work wasn't likely. "How is your universe so freaking weird?"

"We're just lucky, I guess," Ben said. "That's not even starting on the aliens that communicated by licking us."

"Six of them. They were green. You can ask Ender."

"I'm going to email him about this," Tony replied, pulling the laptop back over. "If you're messing with me..."

He would frown. And you can't see it, but still.

"I'm come up with something much more interesting," Ben assured him. "How's the island? Is it fall yet?"

"No, but we're by Atlantis," Tony replied. Then added, in a hushed voice for some reason, "They women don't wear shirts here. Like, at all!"

"Oooooooooh," Ben said, probably a hair too enthusiastically. Look, there was a lot of testosterone on the ship. "Don't they sunburn?"

Now Tony was busy picturing Stephanie and some nameless Greek woman 'helping' each other with topless sunbathing.

"I'm not sending you any pictures now."

"Of Atlantis or ever of anything?" Ben asked.

"Topless Atlantis women." He could expect pictures of the fish with more top hats drawn on. Because it was fun.
