momslilassassin | Aboard the Falcon [Wednesday afternoon, Fandom time]

The quarters were a little more cramped on the Falcon than they were on the Shadow, and the addition of two more people and a nexu cub was helping Ben feel a little caged in.

It wasn't helping that Luke hadn't called yet to let him know where to rendezvous to continue on with their mission. His father wasn't dead--Ben would have felt that--so Ben was trying to wait patiently for his comlink to go off, rather than calling and demanding to know what was going on.

After a few hours of staring at the comm and mentally demanding it to ring, Luke finally called in. The Sith had left the planet having captured most of the Nightsisters of Dathomir, but Luke had Vestara as his prisoner aboard the Shadow and was using her as collateral in his new pact with the Sith.

Ben's yelped "WHAT?!" at that news had echoed through the ship.

Luke's second bit of news--that the Sith claimed their young people were going through the same Force psychosis that had plagued the Jedi--was harder for Ben to believe, and the final piece--that Luke would prefer Ben head to Coruscant to warn the Council personally about the Sith rather than meet up with his father to head back into the Maw--was greeted with absolute silence, then a nod of acquiescence.

Ben was being left behind again. He was fine with that. Really. He curled up on his bunk after he wished Luke luck on his mission and stared at the wall.

See? Totally fine.

"And lucky he's in a different galaxy," Ben grumbled.

Ender snorted. "It's not your virtue being questioned after," he said, amused.

"But apparently I'd know the answers to his questions," Ben grumped.

"Alcohol," Ender reminded him, while wondering how much Tony had figured out.

"It made him completely insane?" Ben replied, flopping down on the bed.

Keep on repressing, Ben.

"For the night," Ender said, shutting off his phone. "But hopefully that's the last one."

"We shouldn't call anyone to make sure they aren't passed out in a stable, right?" Ben checked.

"He's practically a grown man," Ender pointed out. "Besides, if he's that drunk, he's probably at Caritas."

"And deserves any dunks in the pond he gets," Ben added uncharitably.

"Take it up with him on Naboo," Ender advised. "That way you can still dunk him if you have to."

"Plenty of things to dunk him in there, from what I've seen," Ben said. "Does your vacation home have a sea view?"

Ender having a vacation place in Ben's galaxy amused the hell out of him.

It amused the hell out of Jane, too, which... would explain why Ender had wound up with it in the first place, he supposed.

"Lake," he answered seriously.

"I suppose that will do," Ben said, pretending to think it over.

Ender snorted softly. "As long as you approve, sir."

"It's about getting me to relax a bit and stop thinking about how I just got left behind like luggage, right?" Ben replied.

"True," Ender said, "But watch your phrasing - luggage doesn't get its vacation requirements tended to."

"Just end up riding around in a carousel for days, unnoticed," Ben said quietly, then shook his head. "Sorry. I've wallowed enough today."

Ender just smiled a little. "The Falcon has a dejarik table, doesn't it?"

"It does," Ben replied. "Want me to kick your ass?"

Ender chuckled.

"I'll let you win a game," he offered, "O suitcase."

Ben reached out to cuff Ender in the head. "Thanks."

"Don't hit me," Ender requested, though he let Ben get away with it for once. "And you're welcome."

That part was, perhaps oddly, sincere.

The sincerity made Ben smile and slide his hand down to squeeze Ender's shoulder quickly.

"No more hitting," he promised softly.

You know, you could kiss him right now, Ender's inner chimp pointed out to him.

As always, he ignored it. "You're no piece of baggage, Skywalker," he said, instead. "There's plenty of people who'll back me up on that."

Ben's ego had taken a bruising today, which was why he asked, "Like who?"
