Shakespeare Colony [A month later]

They'd waited for the weather to turn more reliably warm and dry before hosting an outdoor dance in the center of the village. The fight over music had been mostly smoothed over by agreeing to vary the selections between what the colonists who'd arrived recently liked and what the natives had become used to after Ben had offered to provide enough droid spoken word albums to last the entire dance to break the impasse.

Because everyone had agreed that droid spoken word albums were the worst.

And now, in the fine tradition of dances everywhere, no one was dancing in the area cleared for that purpose as everyone gathered in nervous groupings around food and drink tables, staring at people across the floor and hoping someone would ask them to dance.

Ben sighed and tugged at the tie around his neck. "Should we draw names from a hat or something?" he asked Ender.

"I agree," Ender said, giving Ben's fingers an extra squeeze. "Nothing quite like Fandom's old dances."

"Well, here I don't need to joke about decorations coming to life and attacking us," Ben replied.

Ender leaned in to peck him on the mouth. "I'll have to make up for that when we get home," he murmured.

"Sounds like the best way to end the evening," Ben replied, linking his fingers through Ender's.

"This might be a good time to start thinking about what you want," Ender said serenely, "Or I might decide it for you."

Ben squeezed Ender's hand. "Oh really."

Ender ran his thumb over the back of Ben's hand. "Move quickly, young Jedi."

Ben's eyes twinkled as he sped up a little bit. "Bossy."

"Only because you like it," Ender retorted, speeding up along with.

By the time they got to their house, he was practically running.

Ben was right along with, him, cheeks pink with excitement as he got their door open and practically dragged Ender into the house with him.

Ender laughed involuntarily, and shoved Ben up against the wall by the stairs, kissing him thoroughly.

Ben let out a happy noise and tangled his fingers in Ender's hair, pulling him closer.

"I do like seeing you dressed up."

"I know," Ender said, nipping at his lower lip. "Trust me."

"Again with the subtleness?" Ben guessed, pressing into him.

"Yes," Ender said, gasping a little. "Have some more subtlety -- shut the door. You're wearing too much."

Ben waved his hand toward the door, then used the excuse of moving it anyway to reach down and squeeze Ender's ass. "You too."

Ender pressed up against Ben-- how he managed to get one and a half arm out of his jacket while doing so was a mystery for the ages. The remaining half-arm took a few moments longer, but he tossed the damn thing on the floor and kissed Ben again.

Ben would need to breathe eventually, but for now this felt far too good to stop.

He reached for the buttons on Ender's shirt, not so concerned with neatness as he was with off.

Ender's fingers reached for Ben's belt a second later, opening that up. He was the one who broke away to breathe eventually, kissing Ben's jaw instead.

Ben tilted his head so Ender could reach more of his neck, gasping for air. "More," he decided, scraping his nails none-too-gently down Ender's back.

Ender nipped none-too-gently at Ben's neck. "Upstairs."

Ben groaned loudly. "All right," he said, tugging Ender up the steps. He paused halfway up to use the stairs to increase his own height and kiss Ender again.

Ender slid his hand into Ben's hair and kissed him back hard. The rest of the stairs could wait... for another moment or so.

Ben clung tightly, kissing back just as fiercely.

"Stang," he gasped.

"You can say that again," Ender murmured, reaching down with his other hand to give Ben's behind a squeeze.
