Yes, he still thought it was funny.

Ben glanced at the calendar one more time, chuckled and commed his father.

"Skywalker."

"Hey, Dad. May the Fourth be with you!"

There was a pause and then a heavy sigh. "Again?"

Ben laughed, hung up and went back to putting his droid back together. Tiny him had been industrious about ripping it apart.

Tiny him was annoying.

"Well, not everyone can live up to your level of astral," Tahiri said offhandedly. Not that she'd wish disappearance on Alex, even.

"So true," Ben said. "There's normally a rigorous obstacle course and essay before you are allowed to talk to me."

"I never had to write an essay," Tahiri had to point out.

"You were grandfathered in," Ben lied.

The corners of Tahiri's mouth twitched. "That's an interesting choice of words."

Ben's cheeks went pink. "You are pretty old," he teased.

"I'm hardly decrepit," she retorted. "Besides, if I'm so much older you shouldn't be giving me so much attitude."

. . . because you never did that to anyone older than you ever, Tahiri. Really.

Ben laughed at her. "Because you've been nothing but polite and deferential to the Masters."

"I am a paragon of courtesy and respect," Tahiri insisted.

It was hard to be convincing when every other word was punctuated by laughter though.

"Since when?" he asked, reaching out to tickle her.

[weetuskenraider]

"Since I said so, that's when." Tahiri didn't try to get away, but if he wanted to tickle her he'd just have to earn it, since she was reaching over to tickle him right back.

Ha.

Ben let out a decidedly unmanly giggle and squirmed a bit, but he didn't stop tickling her.

Tahiri didn't let up either, even though she was nice enough to not comment on the giggle.

Yet.

Ben shifted just a little bit and blew a raspberry against her neck.

Cheater.

Tahiri yelped, flailed a little (way to display those finely honed Jedi skills of alertness), and squirmed right into one of the larger droid parts.

"Ow," she said, mostly out of habit; it hadn't actually hurt that much.

"Sorry," Ben said, a little contrite.

[weetuskenraider]

"Oh, shut up," Tahiri said, aiming a poke at his ribs. "I'm fine."

These things wouldn't happen if you picked appropriate times and places, children, but by now the chances of you ever learning that lesson might be nonexistent.

"Don't fall on droid parts next time," Ben scolded laughingly.

"Don't leave them all over the place, then," Tahiri retorted, leaning in to headbutt his chest lightly.

He ruffled her hair. "I'll be more careful," he replied, grinning.

Tahiri swatted playfully at his hand. "Yes, considering you aren't four now, I'm not worried."

[momslilassassin]

"I was a very organized four year old," Ben proclaimed.

[weetuskenraider]

"But you were still four," Tahiri countered. "When your standards of organized weren't quite up to what they are now."

[momslilassassin]

"Very true," Ben said. "I think I was going by size or something."

[weetuskenraider]

"Apparently." Tahiri poked at the nearest part, momentarily struck by relief (it was still occasionally a surprise) that she didn't have to worry about the sight of this stuff making her go off the deep end unexpectedly. "That's how I'd do it too, but then again that's why you're the expert on these things, not me."
