Ender's Swingin' Bachelor Pad, Naboo [Wednesday, Fandom time]

The nice thing about how time worked on Naboo was that even a few days away from Fandom meant that Ender and Ben had gotten almost a week to themselves to unwind.

Now the fridge was restocked, the rooms were prepared and the droid Ben had made was bustling industriously around getting rid of dust bunnies.

Ben and Ender were ready for their Fandom (and other universes!) invasion.

"And entirely new everything," Karla said, possibly adding 'boyfriend' to that list. Mother Night, this much energy was utterly revolting. "As long as it doesn't hurt, I'll take it. Owie."

Were her teeth throbbing? Yeah, she was pretty sure her teeth were throbbing. And her fingernails. And her hair.

"What in the world were you drinking last night?"

Oh, oh did she have one of those things that Ben had, but told them not to make it by the recipe? Bad move, Karla. The recipe was what kept the drink from exploding in you.

... As Warren had risked learning a few times, himself.

"I don't know," Karla groaned, frowning up at him. Like she was supposed to remember? Honestly now, Warren! "A lot of brightly-colored things, I think. People kept buying me shots, too, because they didn't believe I could keep drinking."

She dropped her head back down on her arms. It was far too heavy to keep holding upright.

"And then me and...someone else...she had a name but it was long and alien and might contain sounds I don't know how to make...got into a contest. With body shots. Off of--was it Twink? Or maybe Long Dong Phong? No, he helped me into the cab. Ummm...the Correllian Cock Rocket? Or was that a drink...?"

Yeah, Warren was just letting out a long, low whistle at that.

"I'm pretty sure Ben and I didn't get around to doing body shots," he shared. "The bouncers there looked like they meant business."

"You obviously went to the wrong club," Karla sniffed, trying to sound as haughty as possible with a wicked hangover. "Mine had bouncers that wore tiny shorts and bowties. They helped me up onto the stage."

Especially towards the end of the evening, when Karla had gotten particularly teeter-y.

"They probably figured you were cute enough to be considered part of the show," Warren decided, smirking a little at the thought of it. "The place Ben and I went to was the kind that was prone to attracting a slightly more rowdy crowd, maybe."

You know, the grabby space-guys who were looking to see naked ladies in bright colors with head-tentacles. Pole dancing.

Karla laughed at him for all of two seconds before her head reminded her that laughing involved both motion and sound and that she was supposed to be hating both right now.

"You think a club full of females screaming at hot males to take it off isn't going to be rowdy?" Not as likely to be violent, sure. But rowdy?

Hell yeah they'd been.

"I didn't say it wasn't," Warren protested lightly. "I said that our club was just a little more rowdy. Mother Night, Karla, I've seen you girls running around with that chunk of chocolate. I know all about how rowdy a bunch of females can be if they feel like it."

"Except there were more of us," Karla said, with something approaching satisfaction. "With alcohol. And Hapan males are very pretty. I think Argon the Anatomically Correct Android said something about it being coded into their very DNA."

"Oh, and it isn't coded into mine?"

That might have been a pointed little feather-ruffle, there. Maybe. A little. Perhaps.

"I think maybe if the other members of the Coven had been there, I'd be posing bail this morning from some sort of space drunk tank, though."

Karla was still a little sulky about being left behind last night, so there was no soothing the feathers for her. "I wouldn't say being pretty is coded into your DNA," she decided. "I mean, you are, but there is no guarantee that you were going to be. Whereas all Hapan males are. In fact, one of them told me that he was thinking about going back to his ancestral pirate roots and kidnapping me away."

Granted, Karla had laughed herself nearly sick, wished him the best of luck on trying, and left him kind of sulking for rest of the evening. But she wasn't going to mention that aloud--see the feeling sulky bit in the above narrative.

"I can't help but notice that he didn't succeed," Warren mused. "Which is probably for the best. If you were kidnapped by pirates, you'd be hung over like this, only all the time."

Karla couldn't help but notice the lack of anything approaching personal reasons why you were glad she hadn't been absconded with. And was giving you the balefullest holy crap how is that a real word, spellcheck? glare she could muster right now.

"Well of course I'm still here," she said. "I'm not going to skip out on my visit with Ben and Ender early."

Warren was going to take that glare, and meet it with a raised eyebrow, Karla. He wasn't going to get jealous of some stripper, since, first, he had met you and knew you were going to try to get a reaction out of him. And second, because he and Ben had been watching strippers that same night, and they'd gotten their share of invitations, too.

"Earlier than you were already going to, you mean?"

Warren was made of hatefulness and spite. Hatefulness. And. Spite.

"What do you mean?" she asked with a dignity that was only mostly spoiled by her bedraggled appearance. "I have no intentions of leaving this vacation early."

"Well, not the whole vacation," Warren replied, leaning forward a little bit. "But I did have a mind to steal you away for some of it, so that we can have a night out of our own."

A beat.

"After you're done resting off your hangover, I mean. Should I be letting you sleep, or getting you some water?"

His personal experience with hangovers wasn't exactly huge.

Okay, that earned him a slight thawing out. Being stolen away by Warren was a very nice thing to think about.

"I'll have to see if I can pencil you into my busy schedule," Karla said, because, thawing or not, she was still pretty miserable and grumpy. "I did make a lot of new friends while being left to my own devices."

Of course, all of that aloofness was rendered moot when she turned a pathetic face up to him and added, "My head hurts. My hair hurts. Fix it."

No she wasn't going to tell you how, Warren! Karla had blown threw her allotment of maturity during yesterday's talk with Ender.

Warren stood there at a loss for a moment, trying to remember what people used back home for hangover remedies.

"A shower," he settled on. "And drinking plenty of water. And... exercise is supposed to help, but I'm not going to make you get up and start walking around if you're still feeling too rotten for that."

"Dun wanna shower," Karla grumped. "Or water." She reconsidered. "Okay, maybe some water. I am thirsty." She dropped a significant glance down at his hands and then repeated, "Even my hair hurts. I can't take a shower and have all that water pounding on my head. It needs to be soothed, first."

Head-rubbies, Warren! Head-rubbies! What was the point of being petulant and passive-aggressive if you weren't going to respond?!?

...Oh. Well-played, sir,

Warren was a sneaky one, it was true.

"You know, water is going to pretty much the same thing," Warren mused, even as he took a seat on the bed and gathered her into his lap, carefully, running his fingers through her hair. "But if it makes you happy..."

"Is not the same thing," Karla grumbled, but more quietly. She relaxed against him, closing her eyes and letting his hands massage some of the tension out of her scalp. "You're better, so nyah."

How could sitting in your lap and being preened not make her happy?

"How was your night? Besides woefully lacking in Karla?"

"Besides that?" Warren was murmuring a bit, himself, not wanting to speak too loudly while she was nursing that headache of hers. "I learned how important it is to make sure the bartender uses the recipe to make certain drinks. And I can't entirely remember, but I think I might have started talking people up to see if anyone was willing to sell me a landspeeder."

Was anyone surprised by this?

"Did you explode?!" Karla asked, pulling away slightly to glare at him. "Argon told me that there were exploding drinks. You exploded, didn't you."

"I did not explode," Warren sniffed. "I just... had a few minutes of indigestion, is all."

Possibly while his insides stitched themselves up again.

"Look, I'm standing here, all in one piece and thoroughly unexploded."

"Try that on the girlfriend that doesn't know you have a Healing factor," Karla said wryly, settling back against him so he could continue his ministrations. "I can't believe you drank things that were explosive."
