Ender's Swingin' Bachelor Pad, Naboo [Wednesday, Fandom time]

The nice thing about how time worked on Naboo was that even a few days away from Fandom meant that Ender and Ben had gotten almost a week to themselves to unwind.

Now the fridge was restocked, the rooms were prepared and the droid Ben had made was bustling industriously around getting rid of dust bunnies.

Ben and Ender were ready for their Fandom (and other universes!) invasion.

"Kiss kiss!" Karla's holler was loud and enthusiastic. "Guys! Guys! We're here!"

In case they'd missed the memo or something.

"Come out and say hello or I'm going to help myself to whatever I can find in the kitchen!"

She mostly meant it as a threat to eat all of the ice cream. Everyone else likely took it another way entirely.

"I'd advise you against that," Ender said, as he wandered out of the house with his hands stuck in his pockets. "Ben's a little trigger-happy."

It was days like this that Warren was thankful for Karla's ability to just vanish things. Because the amount of unnecessary crap that they'd packed... well, he didn't want to be the one carrying it.

And yes, that was one of the thoughts still going through his head as he surveyed their surroundings.

"I'm on a different planet," he said, not for the first time since he and Karla had arrived. "Right this very moment, we're on a different planet. Like, in a different galaxy."

Kaeleer was a different world, too, but this was different, okay?

"Yup!" Karla said, beaming. "And Naboo is amazing. There are so many places to eat!"

Naboo was cool for other reasons, too, but Karla was really hungry, okay?

"You really never, ever been off-planet before? I was a freshman my first time. Ben took Ender and me out to Saturn--or was it Jupiter?--for lunch one day."

Ender's mun had fallen asleep on this last night, whoops had been milling around the study, poking at his laptop and working on some emails as they came in.

He was up now, though, and heading towards the front.

Or go exploring Naboo's capital city, where you can find interesting buildings, alien souvenirs, Jedi action figures, statues of Ben's grandmother...

Oh, and food. Lots of food.

"I really can't go?" Karla asked Ben before they left. "That is ridiculously unfair."

There was a pause. "Please don't change gender like Illyria did at the fraternity booth. That was terrifying."

"So, what do they call the blue ones? Or can I just walk up to the bar, order a round of blue drinks for all of us, and they'll know what I'm going on about?"

Ben had really, really managed to sell Warren on the blue ones.

Mostly just by virtue of their being blue and containing alcohol, granted.

After having a delightfully stompy time reenacting one of the many, many times Ben had been attacked by a rancor (complete with sound effects and poorly-mimicked British Coruscanti accents), Karla had abandoned her new dolls action figures in search of something else to do. The boyos--except for Ender, of course--had left to go enjoy some 'cultural experiences,' which Karla assumed would involve a lot of drinking and bendy Twi'lek dancers.

Yeah. She'd heard about Ben's adventures on Naboo before.

But that was fine. Because what Ben hadn't realized was that Karla had been expecting this very thing: them going out and leaving her behind. And while they'd been wandering around Theed that afternoon, she hadn't just been shopping for things that would make Ben sad. She'd also kept her eye out for some 'cultural experiences' of her own. And she'd found two: Bet Your Assets and The Landing Strip. A coin toss had decided that tonight she'd be visiting The Landing Strip.

After getting dropped off (by a SPACE TAXI!), Karla went inside, exchanged a bunch of credits for paper vouchers that were better for throwing (and possibly tucking), and helped herself to a table right up close to the action.

Oh. Hapan boys were pretty. And space drinks were really strong. And--DID THE ANNOUNCER JUST SAY THE NEXT DANCER WAS NAMED 'BIFURCATED BILL'?!?

Judging by the bulges in his little shorts, Karla was pretty sure he had.

...In short, Karla was having a GRAND TIME.

Ender's hair was wet, but he'd had his fill of swimming -- he was now seated on the dock itself, feet dangling into the water.

The sun was nice.
