The Portal on Shakespeare [a week later]

A mattress had been bought for guests, the house had been scrubbed from top to bottom and then bottom to top, and Ben, even though he knew that Luke wouldn't care in the slightest, had stressed out about what they'd have for dinner for the last three days.

Now he was a half-hour early for the time his father had sent him for the portal, bouncing nervously on the balls of his feet.

He was excited and terrified in almost equal measure.

Sounds like a fun vacation, huh?

"We'll be quiet," Ben replied, moving his hands to rid of Ender's pants. "I want to touch you."

Ender lifted his legs, then kicked the damn things off as soon as he could. His eyes flicked to Ben's face. "Nobody's stopping you," he said, mouth quirking.

Ben let his hand hover just below Ender's waist before moving them both up to cup his face instead. "You are so very loved," he whispered.

"I know," Ender said softly, running his own fingers over Ben's face, then sliding his hand down to Ben's neck. "I know."

Ben's smile was a little quavery. "Sorry," he said. "It's been an emotional day."

"I know that, too," Ender said. His own answering smile was more sure - reassuring, even. "It's okay. I won't tell anyone."

"One of the many reasons I love you," Ben replied, kissing the smile.

Ender kissed him back softly. "Need some grounding?" he guessed gently.

"Yeah," Ben murmured, kissing him again.

Ender touched Ben's spine, and then his scars, kissing him all the while. If that was what Ben needed, he was perfectly okay with it.

Ben made small, happy noises as he returned the kisses and let his fingers slide along Ender's sides, relearning much-loved topography.

Ender couldn't say those noises didn't do something to him - not just below, but somewhere in his chest. His hands traveled down and took a hold of Ben's behind, pulling him closer, taking time to appreciate the solid weight of him.

"Mine," Ben whispered again, nipping down on the hollow of Ender's throat.

Ender groaned softly, his hands giving Ben a firm squeeze in response.

Ben rocked into Ender in reply, sucking lightly on the same spot--he didn't want to leave a mark today.

Ender sighed, sliding his legs over Ben's until they wound up a bit of a tangle. "You do know what you're doing," he murmured.

Statement of a fact with a little reassurance wrapped up in the center of it.

Ben kissed his neck, then along his jawline. "I have my moments," he agreed softly. "I want you to feel loved."

"I do," Ender said, sliding one of his hands back up so he could run it through Ben's hair. "Do you?"

Ben smiled down at him. "Very much," he whispered, leaning in to kiss him. "Thank you."

"Good," Ender murmured, shutting his eyes. "Because I love you very much."

Ben kissed his temple, then each closed eye. "I know you do."

Ender leaned up and kissed him on the mouth.

He gave Ben a nudge, flipping them so he could climb on top.

Ben smiled up at him before scraping his fingers down Ender's spine. "Tired of being on bottom?"

Ender laughed softly. "Just wanted to kiss you properly," he said, dipping down to do just that. "And maybe do something else with my mouth properly..."

Ben shivered as he rested his hands on Ender's hips. "Whistle, maybe?" he asked a little breathlessly.
