Ben was still smiling as they walked away from the Portalocity terminal, his hand in Ender's. "That was a nice visit," he said. "Dad's really, really excited about becoming a grandfather, huh? I think the Ewok-themed nursery might be a bit much, though."

Ben chewed on his lower lip. "Like what?"

"You're kind, dedicated, and responsible," Ender said. "You care enormously about the people around you, and show great empathy." He kissed Ben's forehead. "You're also funny and fun to be around, and you have a well-developed sense of right and wrong."

Ben leaned his head into Ender's and let out a shaky sigh. "Thanks, kreetle."

Ender smiled softly. "I love everything that you are," he murmured. "You're more than good enough."

"You know I'm going to need to hear that at least once a year for the rest of our lives, right?" Ben whispered back.

"I'll tell you once a month," Ender said softly. "Maybe once a week."

Ben kissed him. "Get that embroidered along with 'you're allowed to be happy' onto cushions?"

Ender smiled. "Yes," he said, "Let's get twin issues pillows."

"Next birthday present," he promised.

"I'm not entirely sure, but I think I just had my birthday. Somewhere. Somewhen?" Ender said, laughing a little.

"You just don't want an adorable pillow," Ben decided.

"You can buy me an adorable pillow if you want," Ender murmured. "Just as long as it's not pottery."

"Pottery's just for the summer house," Ben said teasingly, kissing him softly.

Ender sighed and kissed him again, shifting slightly so he could do so more easily. Looking at the screen was no longer important, after all. "Okay."

"Of course, if you were angling for slightly delayed birthday back massages, I could do that," Ben added.

Ender laughed. "I'll do yours if you do mine," he said.

"After a bath?" Ben suggested.

"If we can still find it in ourselves to get up," Ender mused.

"Mmm, good point," Ben said, kissing Ender's cheek. "This is about as comfortable as I've ever been."

"Well, we're tired and curled up in a blanket fort in our living room," Ender said, teasing just a little. "I feel like we've regressed to age six."

"The naked part would be harder to explain back then," Ben teased back.

Ender laughed softly. "Maybe," he said, leaning down to drop some kisses on Ben's arm.

Ben let out a soft, contented sound, and burrowed in closer.

"Now there's one I forgot to mention earlier," Ender said fondly. "You're handsome, too."

He trailed kisses further along Ben's arm.

"Not the only one," Ben murmured, smiling down at him. "I've seen people looking at you."
