Ben & Ender's house on Shakespeare [some evening]

Ben was curled up on the sofa with Ender's rather dry book on anatomy after Ben's research into the subject had brought up suggestions like "Bend Over," "Eating Out," and other titles that had sent Ben into an unhelpful cycle of flail. (Jane had a wicked sense of humor, not that Ben knew that.)

He had a dish of ice cream while he waited for dinner to warm up--his only outward sign of nerves--and kept glancing at the door waiting for Ender to come home.

Just another night, right? If he kept repeating that to himself, maybe he'd believe it.

"There's a score card?" Ben asked, smiling a little giddily.

"Figure of speech, love," Ender said, sliding to the side so he could more effectively snuggle Ben. "I should have gone with Bingo."

Ben hugged him back tightly. "We could get bingo on the gay positions card?" he suggested.

Ender laughed. "With a Jedi in the mix, we might actually even manage that," he joked.

"Bring it on," Ben said, kissing his nose. "Just give me a few minutes."

Because right now his brain was skittering around inside his head and he sometimes forgot his name...

"Take as many as you need," Ender said.

He wasn't exactly aching to do anything other than lay right here and bask in the afterglow either.

"Wonder if this means I'll finally understand the walking funny jokes," Ben babbled aloud.

"Sorry," Ender muttered. He patted Ben's hip (since that was as close to his butt as he could get from here). "Better stay in bed a little longer."

"As long as you're in it with me," he replied, kissing Ender's cheek.

"As long as you want me to be," Ender said, and meant it. He stretched a bit, making a content noise.

Ben closed his eyes and let out a small sigh of his own, reveling in the feelings of calm and love he picked up by being in the room.

"A good long time," he whispered.

"Okay," Ender said softly, and let himself believe it.

Ben looked content, and he looked happy; it was impossible not to kiss him again.

Ben stroked the back of Ender's neck as he returned the kiss. "No deflection this time?" he asked quietly. "No parameters about me being free to leave whenever I want?"

"You are free to leave whenever you want," Ender said quietly. "I'd just rather you don't."

Ben hooked his foot around Ender's. "I'm not going anywhere without you," he murmured softly, leaning in to kiss him.

Ender looked vulnerable and that wasn't something Ben was all that used to seeing.

It was a weird night. Had been before what had just happened, really.

"I know, I know," Ender said, tilting his head and kissing him back. "But you asked."

"Yeah, I did," Ben said, sucking on Ender's lower lip.

"So," Ender murmured, a few moments later. "Not as weird as you'd thought?"

He was genuinely curious.

"Not once I stopped overthinking it," Ben said. "For you? I know that wasn't exactly what we'd talked about."

"It was actually easier when I got to focus on making sure you got what you needed," Ender admitted.

Shocker.

"It's... it was nice." Beat. "Well. 'Nice'."

"What's the difference between nice and nice?" Ben asked, kissing his neck gently.

"One leaves me without the processing power to come up with a better word than 'nice'?" Ender offered.

[momslilassassin]

"Oh, okay," Ben said, sounding a little smug.

Tiredly smug, but smug.

Ender released a little amused snort. "Yes," he said, "You are a terribly nice person to be inside."

He blamed sex dumb.

Ben blushed hard. "Don't think they have a card for that."
