Ben still was exactly sure where he and Ender had ended up but the food was good, the view from their room was fantastic, and nothing had tried to eat them.

He was calling it a win.

He leaned against the balcony railings and ate a piece of fruit (weirdly blue, but other than that very tasty) and watched some kind of birds float serenely on a lake in the near distance.

"Not a bad way to spend time, huh?" he asked.

Ben sighed in frustration. "For almost a month?"

"Apparently," Ender muttered. "Must be a very complicated upgrade."

"Sounds it," Ben agreed, then blew out a breath. "Relaxing now. Sorry."

"It's fine," Ender said, giving his hand a squeeze. "I can understand why you're a little on edge."

Ben leaned his head against Ender's shoulder. "But it's kind of ruining the weekend."

"Because we are usually inclined to abandoning ourselves to vices and merriment," Ender said, with a little smile. "But there's nothing we can do right now, Skywalker."

Ben's cheeks turned pink. "I can think of a few things we could do--"

Smooth, Ben.

Ender chuckled softly. "Is that an invitation?" he asked, sneaking his arm around Ben's waist.

"Do you need an invitation?" Ben asked. "I was just thinking of ordering room service."

Big liar.

"Oh, sorry," Ender said, snorting. "I keep forgetting you're always hungry. Never mind, then."

"What did you have in mind?" Ben asked with elaborate innocence, wrapping his arms around Ender's waist.

"I was thinking I might want to see that lake over there," Ender mused.

[momslilassassin]

"Think we should chance the very vicious looking duck things?" Ben asked.

They looked like ducks.

"Afraid of getting wounded?"

[momslilassassin]

"Terrified," Ben replied, tilting his head to kiss the tiny scar on the back of Ender's neck.

Ender smiled a little. "Want to go inside and get your mind off this instead?"

"As opposed to staying out here and giving someone a show?" Ben wondered.

"I'm not really much of an exhibitionist," Ender admitted. "So that's probably a good idea."

"I'm absolutely shocked to hear that," Ben teased, tugging Ender by the hand and into their room.

Ender shut the door behind them with the one hand he still had to his name right now. He followed Ben the rest of the way into the room. "We could still order room service instead," he joked dryly.

"We could do both," Ben offered before leaning in to kiss him. "I know you have a weakness for pizza..."

Not even close, Ben.

Ender reached up and cupped the back of Ben's head as he kissed back. "I think you're confusing me for yourself."

"No," Ben said. "I had a weakness for you in a uniform."

His hands slid around Ender's waist and up under the shirt.

Ender gave him a little push towards the bed.

A very little one. It'd be a tragedy if Ben had to move his hands. "I think I noticed that."

Ben was happy enough to follow that direction, pulling Ender with him. "I wasn't that subtle about it," he admitted.
