Ben didn't have classes on Tuesday, so he'd spent the entire day going through the forensic evidence of his mother's crime scene on his datapad, so focused on the task in front of him that he forgot his normal Tuesday routine.

The photos...were grim.

Which was why the door was very firmly shut.

"I'm an assassin," Ben replied softly. "Nothing's cut and dry."

"Eat more Twizzlers," John encouraged. "You should at least pretend to relax and be a stupid teen when you can." Sometimes John wondered if his true purpose for being in Fandom was to help Jaina's family slow down on the highway to adulthood.

Ben smiled and reached for the candy. "So...take a break from looking at forensic evidence, then."

"Uh, that's a yes," John agreed. "Jaina's whole work thing is genetic, huh?"

Ben nodded, blushing. "Sorry. We're a whole lot of no fun."

"I don't think that's it at all," Ben said firmly. "I went back home and missed you. No one there smiles any more."

"No one?" John repeated. "I thought you said Jaina had the Popstar and Scarface back home." Okay, so maybe he was a little onetracked on who was smiling.

"Zekk is booooooooooring," Ben complained, "and Jag was in the clinic after helping take down the crazy Dark Jedi who Dad thinks killed Mom."

"I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks that," John grinned. "Too bad about Scarface. Bet he heals up better than new in no time."

"Uncle Han let him fly the Falcon," Ben complained. "I don't like him."

Mostly because Ben never got to fly the Falcon.

Ben made a face too. "But he's, okay, better than Zekk, but still."
