Ben didn't have classes on Wednesdays, so he normally went out on a nice long run before climbing the Rocky Bits (yes, for fun, and yes, without safety equipment), so it wasn't entirely unheard of for him to come home with a few scratches on his arms or legs.

Today, though, he was limping heavily and cursing under his breath about big sharp teeth and stupid kriffing bunnies.

He was a Skywalker. Of course something had tried to eat him.

"On the knee," Ben said. "The stupid uniform pants offered no protection at all."

"I'll make sure to let them know you need knee pads next time," Ender said. "Pants off."

He shot Ben a look that read no jokes.

Ben's eyes twinkled back at him, but he took off the pants without a word.

The look on his face said that he really, really wanted to make some terrible jokes.

Ender's expression mostly said that he had his fingers near Ben's oh-so-terrible bite and he could poke it at any time.

Instead, he got to work applying the bacta patch. "So what bit you?"

A widdle biddy bunny, Ender.

"It was about yay big, large ears, twitchy nose, beady eyes--" Ben described it. "With big teeth."

Ben was lucky Ender had finished putting on the patch right before he said that.

"Ben," he said, putting the remaining patches down. "Are you telling me you got bitten by a bunny?"

Even Ender's considerable ability at keeping a straight face was... well, it was still holding. For now.

"...maybe. But it was really, really mean!"

"It sounds terrifying," Ender agreed, sounding serious.

He was generally not the kind to laugh at other people's misfortune, or make fun of it, or...

But a bunny, Ben?

Ben snorted. "Not really," he said. "But it was definitely unexpected. I didn't even do anything to provoke it!"

"Are you sure about that?"

Ender's mouth twitched. A little.

Ben blew out a breath and reached out to poke Ender in the shoulder. "Go ahead and laugh," he said. "I know you're dying to."

"I already laughed earlier," Ender pointed out.

His expression finally cracked, though. "Leave it to you to get bit by a bunny."

"A really...okay, not even that big bunny," Ben admitted. "There are a ton of them out there today. I think I prefer the aliens."

Ender finally chuckled, but it was a discrete one at best. He patted Ben on the thigh. "Probably shouldn't tackle the rest of your exercise schedule today."

"Lightsabers in the salle seems like an extremely bad idea this week anyway," Ben decided, flopping back on the bed.

"Unless you want to claim it's a flashy avant-garde light show, yes," Ender said, shooting him a wry look. "And remember to put your pants back on."

"You're the one who was so eager to get me out of them," Ben teased.

"The gaping bunny bite wound was a real turn on," Ender deadpanned.

"I knew it," Ben said with a smirk.

Ender responded by poking him in the knee. "Pants," he said.

"When the sentient teddy bears finally attack, I will not be sympathetic," Ben warned with a laugh as he pulled his pants back on. "Blast but these pants are hideous."

"While your robes are usually the height of fashion," Ender said, amused.

"At least they breathe," Ben complained. "If I wore these on a hot planet, I'd melt to death."

"But since this isn't a hot planet, I think you'll live," Ender said, pulling up his socks again. "Though I am pretty sure they designed these to discourage romance as much as possible."

"Probably," Ben agreed, reaching out to grab Ender by the tie and pull him in for a kiss.
